Workflows

Note:   The Railinc Admin performing this task must have Admin authority (more than View only).

 

The workflow functions are used currently to perform a conflict checks on batches of equipment (from a saved query) against the Umler business rules. Running these workflows places non-compliant equipment into conflict status.

Railroads are generally notified in advance when new business rules are to be implements, so they can either ensure that conflicts are removed as quickly as possible by railroad staff, or Railinc support personnel.

Carefully designed conflict-checking workflows can also be used to help estimate impacts of potential new rules.

When an Admin user selects Workflows on the Railinc Admin Menu, the Workflows submenu is displayed (Exhibit 271).

In this first section, a new workflow is being created, so the user can better understand the searches and maintenance function.
